I have a blog, a facebook account, a twitter account, a linkedin account, and three email accounts. What's this all about. Why do I need all this stuff and why am I spending so much time online? Although, having been laid off has shown me the power of some of these networking tools, it has been great to reconnect with people and I think I will stay better connected from now on.

I think it's all about the novelty, people are still enamored with the idea of shrinking the world, or at least being more visible in the otherwise untenable vastness that is life.
I, for one, prefer partial obscurity, opting only for linkedin and twitter (and I only follow 13 people on that). I do know of several people who have fallen into the facebook timesuck. I love them anyways.
I don't do any of it. I really don't need people from my past finding me.
Good for you though, it's good to use the tools when you're job searching, you never know what some ole high school buddy might know.
I just find it creepy that people could find me even if I don't want to be found by them, so I take a pass on most things internet related.

Why don't you write more posts if you're always online?
