You may be asking yourself what is this. Well, it is a diaper (unsoiled) and currently it is our method of choice for keeping the mud room door closed. Although, it did just fall off and hasn't been replaced yet. Perhaps it will find its way back up there. Or perhaps I may someday fix the door and install a proper knob.
These are the CEO's toy horses from her childhood and they are tucked away in the closet. You can see from the cobwebs how often they are cleaned, played with etc...Nice.
This is a fridge magnet cowboy that I've had since I was probably about eight. Once I thought I dropped it out the car window and both I and my little sister started to cry. Hers was more of a sympathy cry for my sake. This little thing is around thirty years old. I just recently found it on top of the clothes dryer. Apparently he just was washed. How and why has this little thing remained with me for thirty something years?

Oh! I love this entry. I love how extraordianry you make these small domestic ordinary moments / things seem. Wow--those horses legs! Are the kids not interested in playing with the horses (I could imagine they might be scary, or, perhaps just unrideable?) That little magnet guy--huh. Time certainly does make the seemingly inconsequential consequential. You can't get rid of him, not now. Not after 30 years. How is it that he's followed you from one side of the country to the other? Amazing.
love, Kaka
Excellent blog entry. This is the Tony-C we know and love.
I love the magnet and how it has stayed with you so long! I have this little tiny wooden turtle (the size of a dime) whose legs and head are on springs, so they bob around. I won it at a 4th grade b-day party. When my house was robbed, I thought it was taken because it was in my jewelry box.
I found it on the floor weeks later.
It has become important to keep it now. It survived my life after all.
The diaper though.... I'm thinking you need to get to home depot.

Yeah for the cowboy bandit magnet. It is amazing that he has stayed with you - its also amazing that we all can remember that he almost went our the car window.

I suspect that the family room baseboard trim will be installed before a knob is placed on this door.
hahha.
That was a good one 2kool4skool
When my horses arrived in the mail I was excited for the girls to play with them, but they slid them across the room, banged them on the floor and immediately snapped two legs off. The horror, the horror.
