I've got the kids today from 8 am 'till 3 pm. We had a nice morning, tried a new breakfast spot and went on a long walk. When we got home I got lunch ready then fed them and then spent time playing in the basement. I've finally got a moment to myself. The Z went for a nap and The Kid is doing number two on the potty, this can take a long time. I used to hate calling it "the potty" now I love it. She's off the pot. See ya.

I'd like to make a comment on the last blog...after the worry (or at least much of the worry) subsides, it's so neat to see kids enjoying school and learning.
As far as all the extra-curricular opportunities for the parents go...I'd advise only becoming active in only the things you'll really think you'll enjoy...and (most importantly) don't get over-involved--remember the joy of free time (or, just not harried time).
Okay, so I know I'm not a parent but I have a job where there are endless opportunities to volunteer...and I have to say I wish I was a little less involved. Sometimes the psychic weight is worse than the actual work itself...just knowing you have to show up somewhere and (as my friend Coach says) "turn it on" can be exhausting.
Whew! I guess I needed a little vent. That's TC and blog-contributors. I hope I didn't sound too down on voluteering; I think it's important, as important as balance.

You could paint your whole house while the kid is taking a number two.
