I get free computer equipment from work, it is generally slightly used but it should be in good working order. It sucks. I hate to admit it but it does. My wife believes that all our problems would go away if we only had a Mac. I'm not sure if that is true but I can't prove that it isn't. The real problem is that all of the equipment is made by my company and I think we are making poor products. I want to recommend the stuff to my friends and family but it is getting harder and harder to do.

When it was time to get a new computer, we had a long debate in our house- PC v. Mac- and as the primary user at home, I won. (No one should be too surprised by such an outcome.)
So far, at least in my opinion, the PC has been great (it's a Dell, my brother's employer)...but I also must admit the Mac which has now been relegated to the rugrats has been around for NINE years and is still doing great. (As for how the husband likes the PC, he mostly uses a Mac laptop from his office for any serious work.)
Of course, now the debate is whether we need a wireless card for all of the computers so that we can be really cutting edge. I wonder who will win this debate??
Being a Mac evangelist (but not of the religious kind), and a PC owner, I still think we should have gotten a Mac. No need to worry about viruses, easy to maintain and troubleshoot, no "Dell Alerts" popping up every time the thing is turned on. If that Dell we got wasn't half the price of a Mac, I would have pressed harder for the Mac. Plus, they're just so much cooler.
Wireless, now you're talking!
