A friend at work is from Mexico. Sometimes he will drop off a small bottle of Tequila for me. It often hits the spot (like now). Who knew there was more to tequila than Quervo-Gold. I guess Quervo doesn't even contain any agave which is the only ingredient in tequila. My tequila drinking knowledge was stuck in college.
I've recently decided that I don't want to become an expert on food things. I love wine and cheese but I just don't seem to have the drive to want to learn all about them. I've decided that it isn't necessary there are a slew of people in the fine food store ready and willing to point me in the right direction. My job is then only to enjoy......I love it!

I have a friend that considered becoming a "fromagiere" (not sure of the spelling)- basically a cheese expert, akin to a wine steward. I think she gave up on it, realizing that same thing, that there are plenty of people who can guide her, and so she'll just know what she needs to know- just a slice. (Ha, a little cheese humor.) I really just thought her whole plan was full of holes.
Anyhow, tequila: my highlight with the infamous liquid (or is it a lowlight?) is Cancun, spring break Sophomore year of college. In such situations, people at the bar come around with the evil fire water, tilt your head back, pour it down your throat, give you a lime to suck on and then bang you on the top of your head to make you swallow. I did at least 3, and the next thing I know I am up with the band singing Bob Marley's "3 Little Birds."
Of course, I would have done that without the tequila.
Salud!
